The Explorer was meant to be a 36mm watch, the 39 seems like it was a ten year experiment that didn't pan out. The narrow taper feels small at first, but you get used to it after .I tell people this all the time when asking about if a size is right for their wrists. I tell them take a full body shot from a few feet away and be amazed how well a 36 or even 34 mm looks on . I spend a lot of time in producing these videos before you see them here. I tell people this all the time when asking about if a size is right for their wrists. I tell them take a full body shot from a few feet away and be amazed how well a 36 or even 34 mm looks on your 7 and change wrist. Close ups are useless. The explorer looks great on you btw

I spend a lot of time in producing these videos before you see them here. They are both fantastic, but considering that my wrist size is just under 7", if I could only keep one, I'd keep the 36mm 14270. Great glossy dial, perfect layout, feels super comfortable. The only item missing for me is the great Easylink extension on the 39mm model. Many beautiful shots in this thread, esp. Jocke's very handsome "catalog shot." With the Expy II, it is genuinely hard (for me) to choose between the white dial and the black. They are equally desirable.

Just a quick wrist shot of the Rolex Explorer (214270) on my 6.5in wrist.

With 2021 marking the 50th anniversary of the Explorer II, watch fans awaited a new generation of Rolex's funkiest and oddest sport watch at Watches & Wonders in April.
